Pelekita Cave (Sikias Cave)
Sadly, the huge fig tree at the entrance, name giving for the second name "Sikias", had died recently.
Remnants can be found at the north-east part of the entrance. But there is hope: a small branch of a new fig tree is emerging just above at the entrance ceiling.

Pelekita cave is very long and sloping steeply. There are no fixed ropes or similar protection and guiding devices within the cave.
Lacking self securing equipment, we could visit only the near-surface part safely. Therefore no images have been taken from the deeper parts of Pelekita.
For anyone unexperienced in rock-climbing within slippery cave environment at limited lighting entering Pelekita further than the archaeological excavation site may be very dangerous.
Advance to the cave may be very challenging taking into account to cross 3 km completely shadow-less rocky terrain without any shelter. Proper sun protection and taking enough to drink is mandatory.
