Before the engine is ready to start the cylinder head of the Lanz Bulldog has to be preheated with a soldering-lamp until it glows bright cherry-red. Then the steering wheel with its shaft is removed from the cockpit and attached to the right side of the engine. Powerful turning the steering wheel will  start the engine.
