Cross-Eyed Technique
Unaided stereovision of stereograms is accomplished
through the "Cross-Eyed Technique".
That can be achieved with the naked eye -
that is without the aid of a viewer or any other special device.
This technique involves crossing one's eyes
(squinting), so that the lines of sight of the left eye is intersecting
those of the right eye.
Approach to the "Cross-Eyed Technique" :
>
The
distance between your eyes and the screen will depend on the size of the
3D-images on your screen (distance might be 1 - 3 ft / 0.3 - 1 m ).
>
First hold your finger or a pen halfway between your
eyes and the screen and look at the tip of the object.
>
Then gradually move
your finger or the pen towards your eyes. When the correct position is
reached, you will see exactly three blurred images in the background.
>
Try
to focus at the one in the middle and remove the object slowly from your
field of vision. A three-dimensional image should come into view.
As focusing of the eyes must be intentionally separeted from their viewangle
some time for training might be necessary. Try to keep your eyes as relaxed
as possible. After short practice you will not need the help of objects
like your finger or a pen to support three-dimensional view of 3D-images
anymore.
Three-dimensional sight of images can
only be achieved if eyesight of both eyes is sufficient.
